The Pharcyde “J-Sw!ft Re-Licks by vaporized”

Saturday, October 6th, 2012

Another T.R.O.Y. exclusive by the blend king, vaporized. This time vapo took Pharcyde accapellas and laid them over different J-Sw!ft beats. I know that this project was a little harder to complete than some of his others, he gave up several times and nearly scrapped it. I’m glad he didn’t.

vaporized blends M.O.P. & Buckwild

Wednesday, August 1st, 2012

vaporized posted up this ep today. The guy has an incredible ear for matching acapellas and beats.

“someone on here asked me ages ago to do something with the celph titled/buckwild instrumentals. can’t remember who it was, but I finally got round to having a go with a few beats from Nineteen Ninety More over some MOP. only an EP worth (4 tracks), but they sound pretty heavy imo. enjoy.”

Tru Comers: Vaporized Blends

Thursday, June 14th, 2012

A brand new vaporized blend project. Don’t sleep.

In case you’re not familiar with Tru Comers (aka Sperrow and X-Pert) they’re a Swiss production crew, but their sound is pure mid 90s NYC boom-bap rawness.

Hopefully I’ve managed to do some justice to their 2011 instrumental EP with these blends.

Props to Verge and dirt_dog for going out of their way to help put this together, and to Tru Comers for giving this project the all clear… Enjoy

The Pharcyde “Phriday Phun Pack #8”

Friday, April 13th, 2012

Number 8 is great! First is the real Jay Dee remix of “Runnin” which has never appeared anywhere again due to an issue with the use of a Gap Band sample. Then we got the Pharcyde appearing on some lovely Spainsh (Barcelona!) beats, followed by a real tasty blend from T.R.O.Y./Philaflava superstar, vaporized. He was kind enough to do this exclusively for my Pharcyde series. Next up is a vinyl gem from label mate Buc Whead (side note: I have a Delicious Vinyl sampler that has this listed as Buc-Whead & Fat Lip p/k/a The Horrible Bros., was there supposed to be a whole project from these 2?) and rounding it off is a sweet track produced by Kool DJ E.Q. Suggestions are always welcome, pheel phree to leave a comment.

Phriday Phun Pack #8
01 The Pharcyde-Runnin’ (Jay Dee Remix) (1995)
02 Pachecos feat. The Pharcyde-Fresh & Hot (2002)
03 The Pharcyde-4 Better Or 4 Worse (Vaporized’s Presto ‘So Good’ Blend) (2012)
04 Buc Whead feat. Fatlip-Keep It Mackin’ (1996)
05 The Pharcyde feat. Schmooche Cat-Manifest (1998)

Adriana Evans – blends by vaporized

Monday, February 21st, 2011

Stream: Artifacts “C’mon With The Git Down”/ “Seein’ Is Believing”

Stream: Crooklyn Dodgers “Crooklyn”/”Reality”

Adriana Evans is the talented daughter of Mary Stallings, a singer who performed with Count Basie and once recorded an album with Cal Tjader. She’s also the god-daughter of jazz legend Pharaoh Sanders. She’s the voice you hear on Dred Scott’s “Check The Vibe” and she’s had a fruitful career of her own as well.  Her musical pedigree gave her an ear for sampled beats that is downright impeccable, and I’ve always thought that the  Dred Scott produced instrumentals for her self-titled debut would have worked well as rap songs. Seemingly reading my mind, our resident blend master Vaporized cooked up this compilation of blends featuring classic rap acapaellas from beloved artists like The Artifacts, Gravediggaz, Digable Planets and more, dropped over Adriana Evans instrumentals. The results are excellent and if you aren’t bumping this in anticipation of warmer weather, I question whether or not you really got soul. — Thun

Vaporized: Group Home Blends

Friday, December 17th, 2010

Vaporized has gained fame here and back at the forum for his talent at blends. His latest project targets the beats that DJ Premier provided for the Group Home for their debut album Livin’ Proof. Ever wondered what those beats might sound like if they were matched with acapellas from other rappers? Of course you have, and now you’re going to find out for sure. 18 tracks, including vocals from Kool G. Rap, Raekwon, Mobb Deep, Nas, Biggie, and more.

Unconvinced? Here’s the streaming audio for Mobb Deep “Rare Species” blended with Group Home “Suspended In Time”:

‘Give Me Your Love’ meets Kool G Rap & Chino XL

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

As usual, forum regular and resident blend master, Vaporized is right on point with his new project using breaks and beats from Sylvia Striplin’s 1981 album, ‘Give Me Your Love.’

Here’s what Vaporized had to say: “New blends… just an idea I had to fit some G Rap and Chino verses over breaks from this classic album… try it out”

Vaporized Blends: Wu Freestyles

Friday, September 4th, 2009

If you’ve been following T.R.O.Y. since the beginning you know that our friend Vaporized can throw together some great blends. Whether he’s throwing Nas vocals over Godfather Don and 45 King productions or matching AZ acapellas to Hydra beats, the kid puts in work. Now he’s back with a little something differet for the Wu Tang aficianados:

this is a 13+ minute continuous freestyle from ’96 with Cappadonna, Timbo King and U-God spitting over random breakbeats, blended with some kick ass beats by QDIII, Godfather Don, Rockwilder etc.

the original freestyle is from Wild Style Freestyle Allstars Vol.2. unfortunately I had to cut out Ghostface’s verse out of this, but all the random chatter/false starts/mess ups are cut also. this was fairly difficult to construct but I think it kind of works…

Sounds enticing, innit? Download it or stream it here:

AZ – A.W.O.L. (Hydra Beats Blends)

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

You already know what it is, but now it’s better. T.R.O.Y. forum regular, vaporized, went and laced the acapellas of A.W.O.L. with some of the highly sought after Hydra Beats instrumentals. Whether you thought A.W.O.L was dope, mediocre, or garbage, you’re gonna want to give this another listen right about now. It’s a completely different look over these mostly mellow mid 90’s soundscapes. I’ve had this in constant rotation for a couple of weeks now, and can tell you that this will be something to revisit often in the future.
Two tracks had to be left off because they just didn’t work. And that may be for the best because we all know this hip hop thing can’t be forced. My top 3 tracks at this moment are “Never Change”, “Street Life”, and “Chillin”. I’ll leave you previews of these three below the tracklist.

01. AZ – A.W.O.L. (E-Boogie blend)
02. AZ – Can’t Stop (Nick Wiz blend)
03. AZ ft. Raekwon & Ghostface Killah – New York (Unsociables blend)
04. AZ – Never Change (Beatnuts blend)
05. AZ ft. Half A Mil & Begetz – Street Life (Unsociables blend)
06. AZ – Still Alive (Beatnuts blend)
07. AZ – The Come Up (Kid Called Roots blend)
08. AZ – Chillin’ (Kid Called Roots blend)
09. AZ – Envious (Nick Wiz blend)
10. AZ – City Of Gods (E-Boogie blend)
Never Change (Beatnuts blend)

Street Life (Unsociables blend)
Chillin’ (Kid Called Roots blend)
