Midwest Series Volumes 10-12 (1991-1997)

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

Since my midwest series isn’t huge I’m going to bring the rest of them to you in a relatively short time. Some of these selections are well known but alot of them are off-the-radar obscure. Perhaps rightly so, but it’s hard not to think of Chicago as the center of midwest hip hop. Don’t sleep on the rest of these artists though, who hail from all over the midwest.

Midwest Series Volumes 6-9 (1990-1997)

Friday, April 8th, 2011

No I haven’t forgotten my midwest efforts. This compilation series has been on the backburner for too long though. To any hip hop who’s not deaf and provincial, there is an absolute gold mine of hip hop that doesn’t originate near any coast, east, west or south for that matter. I’ve got 21 editions in this midwest series and these are volumes 6-9. Tune into these sounds from the heartland. I think you’ll like what you hear.

Philly Retrospectives Volumes 21-23 (1989-2000)

Tuesday, April 5th, 2011

Bringing more obscure underground dopeness today, it’s volumes 21-23 in my Philly retrospective series. A few of the tracks featured here were never officially released and some of them are radio rips. Read the nfo files if you want to know particular details. I love this Philadelphia project. If you’ve been following the series you know it runs deep. If not, do yourself a favor and start here. Collectors stay tuned, volume 28 is not far away. That’s the ‘final’ Pa compilation., but as I explained with the New Jersey series, there is never really an official ‘end’ to them. These collections are a longtime and ongoing labor of love.

Southern Series Volumes 17-20 (1991-1997)

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

I’ve only done 24 southern compilations altogether. It’s sort of a shame I haven’t put together more. Provincialist snobs might look down upon bass and booty music but real heads know better. That’s not all that’s going on down below the mason-dixon line. I’ve been ruminating on 5-10 essential southern hip hop albums I’d suggest to anyone. That’s going to take awhile but I’ll get back to you on it. In the meantime, check out volumes 17-20 in my southern series.

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

Sharing these compilation series is always a balancing act for me. I want people to be able to collect my east coast 12 inch series in a relatively short period of time.
