Foul Play – The Wild Pitch Demo (EXCLUSIVE)

Wednesday, April 11th, 2012

Foul Play hardly needs an introduction to the hardcore hiphop fan.  However, very little information and material has been made available to the public. Hailing from Tacoma (near Seattle) Washington, Foul Play is made up by rappers Tommy Gun (aka Messiah) and Hooligan, with beats by Mario. They were later joined by rapper Young Have Not. Also, cuts on the tracks were made by Seattle’s DJ B-Mello. (more…)

’98 B-More Styles

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

Today I’d like to focus on two joints from the 1998 independent scene in Charm City. A year ago in one of our many Weekly Request Threads on the T.R.O.Y. forum, member diggy64 upped a couple rare records for us (that have spread throughout the internet somewhat). One of those is the self titled debut (and sole recordings) from the Starvin’ Art Clique, featuring MCs 30 Fingaz and Hawaii and producer Guess Who?, interview here.

Starvin’ Art Clique LP (V2)

Starvin' Art Clique

01. Rogue & Vagabond (Produced by Guess Who?)
02. Showbiz (Produced by Guess Who?)
03. The Night (Produced by Guess Who?)
04. Relations (Produced by Guess Who?)
05. Shiesty (Produced by Guess Who?)
06. Keep Pushin’ On (Produced by Guess Who?)
07. Charm City (Produced by Guess Who?)
08. Alone (Produced by Guess Who?)
09. Slackin’ (Produced by Guess Who?)
10. Keep Pushin’ On Remix (Produced by Guess Who?)
11. Poetry (Produced by Guess Who?)
12. Starvin’ Art (Produced by Guess Who?)

The other is an even more sought after EP (and only material) from Mr. Ruckuz, entitled The Verdict, the one thing released on Madd Versatile Records. This piece of wax now sells for hundreds of dollars online; download link and details after the jump. (more…)

Random EP Drops: Money Boss Players – Ghetto Chronicle Daily EP

Sunday, September 19th, 2010
(Freshly ripped at 320kbps for your listening pleasure)

Money Side:
A1. Use To Fear Death
A2. Ghetto Chronicle daily
A3. Sat. Nite – Sun. Morn.
A4. What U Saying
Player Side:
B1. Night Night
B2. Stick-N-Step
B3. Death Of A Salesman
B4. Ghetto Chronicle Daily (Instr.)
B5. What-U-Saying (Instr.)
Here’s a straight banger that so many people missed when it came out in 1994. This is a classic EP that wasn’t promoted/distributed properly and goes for big dough online and offline.
I think the first record I had from Money Boss was the “Player’s Pinnacle” joint, the white label with black writing, not the red one.
Eddie Cheeba and Lord Tariq on the mic’s and Minnesota on the beats.
And check out some newer Boss Money stuff here.
Lord Tariq will be featured on the upcoming Amazing Maze LP and there’s been talk of a new Boss Money LP for some time now. Let’s just hope it happens. Especially after hearing the P Brothers album in 08.

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Here we have The Lost Breakbeats: The Album by DJ Mark The 45 King released in 1993. This is a rare record to own. I’ve seen other breakbeats 12″ by 45 King but never this one, I was surprised when I found it at my local record shop. There’s also some vocals from original Flavor Unit member “Double J”. Enjoy,

DJ Premier “Planet Of The Beats Volume 1”

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

I got this LP years ago from hiphopsite.com. I can’t quite remember the year, nor can I find any real information about it, so let’s just say it was 2002. I placed my order, waited several weeks only to find out they had sold out and wouldn’t be getting any more. They issued me a store credit and I moved on with my life. About 2 months later a mysterious package arrived on my door step, and now I share with you:
“DJ Premier presents Empire Management production. An original one of a kind release “Planet Of The Beats Volume 1″. A reflection of classic hip hop instrumentals combined with movie dialogues from great movies. Featuring music from DJ Premier, Mobb Deep, A Tribe Called Quest, The Beatnuts, DJ Spinna, Show & AG & others. Recorded at D&D Studios N.Y.C., U.S.A.”

A1 Count Down
A2 Lift Off
A3 On A Mission
B1 Up, Up Into The Sky
B2 High & Higher
B3 Into Space
B4 Stars In My Eyes
B5 Space Is Awesome
C1 All Alone In Space
C2 A New Dimension
C3 A New Time Zone
C4 Our Solar System
D1 Is This For The Love Or The Money
D2 Lets Get Busy
D3 The Journey Home
D4 Hold Tight

Crustified Dibbs – Night Of The Bloody Apes(Remastered)

Friday, March 27th, 2009

We come to you today bearing bad news in one hand and a gift in the other. T.R.O.Y. forum resident blendologist supreme, vaporized, has been struck with the hardship of a completely broke down laptop. Thus rendering him incapable of contributing any more monumental blends or mixes until he obtains a new workstation. I will list below all the incredible work that was done by vaporized, in the past 6 months, and wish him a full online recovery.

Before vaporized lost his laptop powers, he left us with this nice piece of work that cannot be found anywhere else in the blogosphere or message board realm. He took the initiative to remaster the highly sought after shelved debut album by Crustified Dibbs called Night Of The Bloody Apes. According to discogs, this was released on CD, but as far as I knew it was only on cassette. I don’t claim that this is CDQ or VBR, but it sounds a hell of a lot better than the versions that have been floating around the web for the past years. I don’t even claim that this is a classic album in any shape or form. To be honest, the album is, well,……pretty bad. But, for me, it’s worth having just for the frustrated emcee anthem Every Record Label Sucks Dick. Included as a bonus cut is the Biggie Smalls featured cut Cunt Renaissance Remix.

Previews:
Crustified Dibbs – Every Record Label Sucks Dick

Crustified Dibbs(ft. Biggie Smalls) – Cunt Renaissance Remix
If you weren’t aware, Crustified Dibbs went on to become RA The Rugged Man and has released music much better than this album, in my humble opinion. I believe on that Cunt Renaissance Remix above, he had already changed his name for that record. Check him out here for some more recent tracks and info. Here’s a few joints you probably already know by him –

R.A. The Rugged Man(ft. Agallah) – Till My Heart Stops

R.A. The Rugged Man(ft. Sadat X) – 50,ooo Heads Remix

R.A. The Rugged Man(ft. Blackmarket Militia) – The Renaissance

Cloudkicker’s Remix LP + Homegrown Treat

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

This past week at the TROY forum, a new poster named darkO uploaded this album I never knew existed. The Cloudkickers = Dj Eli [of Juggaknots and Night Train Radio fame] and Shan Boogs. The album is full of remixes of songs you know and love, and some you might not have liked the originals. Drizzle provided us with the tracklist and noted how dope the interludes were. I love me some ill interludes, so this prompted me to immediately check this album out.

A1 M.O.P. Pounds Up (Remix)
A2
Amil 4 Da Fam (Remix)
Rap [Featuring] – Beanie Sigel , Jay-Z , Memphis Bleek
A3
Big L Flamboyant (Remix)
B1
Nas Family (Remix)
Rap [Featuring] – Mobb Deep
B2
Dynasty (4) Poisonous Youth (Remix)
B3
Eve (2) Let’s Talk About (Remix)
Rap [Featuring] – Drag-On
C1
QB Finest Street Glory (Remix)
C2
Krumb Snatcha Closer To God (Remix)
C3
Redman Funkarama (Remix)
D1
Tephlon Rawness (Remix)
Rap [Featuring] – M.O.P.
D2
Prodigy Keep It Thoro (Remix)
D3
Royce Da 5’9″ Let’s Grow (Remix)

Upon further inspection of this album, I immediately recognized the sample on Interlude #7.
I used it myself back in maybe 2003-2004, for an instrumental. I also incorporated another sample from a song that has been flipped many times, even recently. Hmmm, DOOM? Can you catch it?

Cloudkickers – Interlude #7

Verge – Rainy Blaze

Let me know what you think up in the comments.
For more Juggaknots and Cloudkickers material, refer back to our Fondle ‘Em Collection.

There may be a reworking of those interludes soon. So stay tuned.
Also, darkO noted that the Kokomo sample was also used for Smif n’ Wessun – Recognize.
I haven’t heard that cut in years so I’ll have to investigate.
Thanks to darkO and drizzle on the download and assist.
