Royal Flush & Mic Geronimo – Special Guests at Album Release Shows

Monday, August 16th, 2010

Fat Joe brought out Mic Geronimo to perform “Shit’s Real” live at The Darkness album release party at SOB. Fat Joe also brought out Diamond D, Redman, DJ Premier, Jeru The Damaja, MOP, … he also performed Flow Joe, Success, Firewater, … Seemed like a real good show!
.
Capone-N-Noreaga had Royal Flush to come out and perform “Iced Down Medallions” live at their album release party. Noreaga did the chorus like in the original.
I just wanted to share these two videos as I felt that it must of been a long time since they had performed these classics. Much love to Fat Joe and CNN for making it happen!

Nas & Damian Marley – Distant Relatives Tour (Live @ The Wiltern, Los Angeles)

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

On Friday, May 28, 2010, Nas & Damian Marley came together to perform for their Distant Relatives Tour at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA. They were backed by a live band and a Rastafarian waving a flag throughout the whole show. Nas & Damian Marley had a 2-hour set. They performed the whole Distant Relatives album except for two tracks and they each did some solo tracks. The show started with "As We Enter" and ended with "Africa Must Wake Up". Nas & Damian Marley came back for an encore; Nas did "One Mic" backed by a Djemba Drum and Damian payed tribute to his father by doing a cover of "Could You Be Loved". It was an incredible show! The show was sold out as well! Nas also payed tribute to Guru and Gary Coleman (who died on the same day as the show) when he did “If I Ruled The World”. Check out the footage that I recorded with my Vado HD! Click Here to go on my Youtube Profile and see all the videos.

Reflection Eternal – In This World (Live @ Fat Beats LA)

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

“If skills sold, truth be told, I’d probably be lyrically, Talib Kweli” Jay-Z

Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek made an appearance at Fat Beats LA to promote their new Reflection Eternal album “Reflections Per Minute“. They came out and performed “In This World”. I didn’t get the best footage since I wasn’t standing in the front plus I had the sun in front of me but at least I did get something. Also if you haven’t checked it out, an official video was shot for “In This World”.

Ras Kass Live Performance @Bike Day LA Hollywood, CA

Thursday, May 6th, 2010
Ras Kass performed live at the Bike Day LA free event in Hollywood, CA. Ras Kass performed a five track set with full energy; including the classics Goldyn Chyld (DJ Premier Remix) , Soul On Ice (Remix) , 3 Card Molly, & Ghetto Fabulous. Even thought it was a great performance from Ras Kass, you could tell that you weren’t in a “hip-hop” crowd. It was mostly “skaters, long hair, skinny jeans” type of dudes. That’s why I was surprised when I saw that Ras Kass was performing there. But being a hip-hop head, I still had to go check it out and show some support to Ras! The setting was really dope! Ras Kass performed live on a rooftop. The sound system was messed up in the beginning though, Ras Kass’s mic was too low. He noticed after the first track so they went and fixed it.
If you don’t know, Ras Kass is releasing an album titled “A.D.I.D.A.S.” with DJ Rhettmatic. The first track that they released is titled “Release Yourself“. They weren’t thinking of putting it on the album but with all the praises they received, they might now add it to the project. I talked to Ras Kass and he said that they have so many dope tracks that it’s hard to get everything together on a 70 minute CD.

Record Store Day April 17, 2009 @ Amoeba Hollywood & Fat Beats LA

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Record Store Day is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Record Store Day was conceived by Chris Brown, employee of the independent record store chain, Bull Moose, located in Maine and New Hampshire and was founded in 2007 by Eric Levin, Michael Kurtz, Carrie Colliton, Amy Dorfman, Don Van Cleave and Brian Poehner as a celebration of the unique culture surrounding over 700 independently owned record stores in the USA, and hundreds of similar stores internationally. Record Store Day is celebrated the third Saturday in April.

The third annual Record Store Day took place on Saturday, April 17, 2010. Being in LA, I went to Amoeba Music in Hollywood and Fat Beats LA. DJ Spinderella (of Salt-N-Pepa) had a in-store DJ set @5PM. I went there to check it out with my brother and copped some music at the same time. After, I directly went to Fat Beats LA to check out Rakaa Iriscience (of Dilated Peoples) & Chali 2na (of Jurassic 5) performing with DJ Rhettmatic @6PM. Rakaa performed two tracks from his upcoming solo album. The Legendary Craig G, who was in LA, dropped by Fat Beats LA a little while after. He spitted a freestyle while DJ Rhettmatic was on the turntables playing the instrumental "Welcome To LA" by Xzibit. Of course, you know that it was from the top of the dome and he ripped it! Check out the footage from this incredible day!
