MC Shan vs. Marley Marl

Sunday, January 15th, 2012

Shan sets the record straight on why he wasn’t on The Symphony. Marley’s response is below but he ain’t saying nothing really to dispute what Shan said. All I know is, Marley has had way too many shady dealings following him throughout his career. Not giving credit. Not paying artists. He is a legend so most people don’t care, but I bet K-Def has stories for days too. –Philaflava

Roxanne Shante – Queen Pin (1995)

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Queen Pin” is Roxanne Shante’s last solo record on Cold Chillin’ Records. It was first released on Roxanne Shante’s Greatest Hits in 1995 on Cold Chillin’. It is produced by Tony T. who produced for the late Cold Chillin’ releases of Kool G Rap(XXX Cuts) and the Brooklyn Zoo 12″s. He also produced most of Mack da Maniak – Loco Motive album from 1996. “Queen Pin” was later released in 1996 as a promo 12″ inch containing a remix. I would love to hear it if someone has it as I don’t own it.. “Queen Pin” was ripped from the lp vinyl. Enjoy,

Cold Chillin’ on Christmas

Thursday, December 25th, 2008

First I would like to say Merry Christmas to all T.R.O.Y. Blog readers!

Now here’s a rare posse cut by the Juice Crew that was released in 1988. As Cold Chillin’ was distributed by Warner Bros. Records, they were given a spot on Warner Bros’ Christmas Compilation “Winter Warnerland“. The record featured Big Daddy Kane, Roxanne Shante, MC Shan, & Fly Ty(yes, Fly Ty). Kane drops two verses while Shante, Shan, & Ty only rhymed once. Funny thing about this record is that everybody from “The Symphony” is missing except for Kane. It’s still a great track though!

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

2 months ago, T.R.O.Y. Member Soopacee ripped his cassette single of Big Scoob(Big Daddy Kane) titled “Suckaz Can’t Hang”. While the track samples the Ohio Players’s “Funky Worm”, It actually sounds different that most of the tracks that sampled it. Suckaz Can’t Hang was released on Cold Chillin’ in 1994 and is co-produced by Easy Moe Bee. You might also remember scoob’s verse as he performed it along with Kane, Big, Pac, & Shyheim in 1995 at the Madison Square Garden.
