Take It Personal – West Coast Classics IV

Thursday, November 2nd, 2017

It’s exactly a year today, we debuted our Take It Personal show and here we are with Episode 17. This is the final installment of our West Coast Classics series. That’s 4 shows total clocking in over 17 hours of everything West Coast. NOBODY, let me repeat, NOBODY has ever done this kind of tribute before and I don’t see anyone dumb enough to try. On this show we have tributes to the great West Coast indie/underground scene, another Bay Area homage and we couldn’t forget about Death Row Records. We also have classics from Blu, Suga Free, Styles of Beyond, Zion I, Spice 1, Invisibl Skratch Piklz, DJ Shadow, Madlib, Mac Dre, Tha Dogg Pound, Eazy-E, Dru Down, Odd Future, 2Pac, The Jacka, Kendrick Lamar, The Coup, Souls of Mischief, Paris, C-Bo, Living Legends, Fashawn and E-40.

T.R.O.Y. Presents – Sounds Like The 90s Vol. 24

Tuesday, August 16th, 2016

We create these Sounds Like The 90s, to share with you new(er) tunes, that we feel represent that 90s hip-hop we love. Listen with an open mind and most importantly, support the artists featured on these Sounds Like The 90s if you like what you hear. 24 is a great number, my favorite number for obvious reasons, so it only made sense to incorporate my childhood idol Rickey Henderson on the cover. Props to dirt_dog for always blessing the artwork. And if you’re a fan of his work, you’ll be happy to know our Certified Dope Apparel is back for a limited time as well. Peace to to all those who continue to support Philaflava, Steady Bloggin and of course, T.R.O.Y.   –Jason Gloss

Follow us on Instagram @Philaflava if you’re feeling nostalgic.
Stay tuned for the return of The Philaflava Show, as we bring you Take It Personal radio dropping this fall.

T.R.O.Y. Presents – Sounds Like The 90s Vol. 18

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011

A little over three months have past since the last volume and the only reasoning for that is the music. Towards the end of the year and the beginning of the year the music industry slows down and resets. During that hiatus there were quite a few tracks definitely worthy of your attention. So while this version may not contain the newest of the new, it does showcase what I feel is a nice lead-in, to what may be a pretty solid year in hip-hop. We got one of the newest groups of out Philly, Writtenhouse. New Wu of course. Two of the most promising emcees bringing back authentic NY hip-hop, Meyhem Lauren and Action Bronson. We got two Focus tribute tracks, one to Ali Shaheed Muhammad and the other to RZA. We got your Black Thought fix, along with an extremely dope J. Period remix featuring Rakim Allah. There is definitely something for everyone on Vol. 18.

Thanks to all the people that have supported this project over the years. Props to Dirt_Dog and Strategy for helping–as always. Shouts to the entire T.R.O.Y. squad and our readers. Download link and front cover are below, back cover and tracklist after the jump. – Philaflava
