Tuesday, April 16th, 2013

And ya don’t stop. This time around we’ve got Mr. Back in the Day, the Sabotage boys, a couple players on their night out,  the boyz with Nuttin’ But Love and the prophet. As the groups continued to put out records, a couple new solo artists stepped onto the scene to start their careers.

Dropped Same Day: Digable Planets / O.C. / Scarface / Twista

Monday, April 1st, 2013

As we proceed to give you what you need. For this installment we have an odd mix. A trio from all over the country, a lyricist from Brooklyn, an MC from Houston and one from Chicago. Twista’s album was actually originally released only in the Chicago area.

Rampage The Last Boyscout “Tha Red Oktoba” (Unreleased 1994)

Monday, August 20th, 2012

Well, the Philaflava forum is nothing short of a goldmine of lost music. skater4041 quietly dropped this shelved album in there yesterday, and now I share it with you. “Beware Of The Rampsack” dropped as the first single in 1994 and was advertised in several magazines, but eventually got shelved in by Rowdy Records. Rampage’s (new) debut album hit at some point in 1997 on Elektra.

There is very little info on this album, no production credits (although LG gets a shout) and a guest appearance by Busta Rhymes. If you have any info, please leave a comment.

T.R.O.Y.’s Unofficial Wu-Weekly (Week 21)

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

Thun said it best… it’s now more like Wu-Weekly, but never Wu-Weakly.

Some of my favorite reggae remixes and both happen to feature Method Man. Also a great Wu-Tang reagge remix project by Chris Macro can be found HERE in case you missed it a few years ago. RZA remix on “Scalp Dem”, that gritty Wu sound from 1994.

T.R.O.Y.’s Unofficial Wu-Wednesday (Week 18)

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

Nice little, somewhat elusive, cd single. Contains two non-album tracks. “Freak” is a full track while “Freud” is more of an instrumental with some cutting and scratching of vocal samples (word to Prince Paul!).

01 Nowhere To Run Nowhere To Hide (Album Version)
02 Nowhere To Run Nowhere To Hide (Clean Radio Edit)
03 Nowhere To Run Nowhere To Hide (Instrumental)

T.R.O.Y.’s Unofficial Wu-Wednesday (Week 13)

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

Wu-Tang’s smallest artist. I always wished that Shyheim kicked a verse in TLC’s “Waterfalls” after making an appearance in their video. He had a great career going as a youngster, music, movies and TV. Then in 2001 got sent off to prison for a couple years. I know Shyheim helped form Bottom Up music and is about to drop a new album with Dom Pachino of Killarmy. Will 2011 be his comeback year? I hope so.

T.R.O.Y.’s Unofficial Wu-Wednesday (Week 11)

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

A vintage session from the Wu Tang Klann. Based on the spelling and quality of this vinyl, all signs point to bootleg. Still, nice to hear a young Clan freestyling and clowning around for 40 minutes (Tim Westwood Show?). And Meth is certainly the star of this show.

Random VLS Drops: Domestic Violence Entertainment

Wednesday, December 15th, 2010

It might not be the greatest idea to somewhat blindly blog about a label without enough info, but I’ll put this one out there in hopes that someone can shed some more light. “Domestic Violence Entertainment Records” is the label and, as far as I know, a crew(trio? duo? one person?) called “Pretzel’s Logic” handled all the production. The label dropped 6 pieces of vinyl, as far as I know. I’m gonna bring you the full rips of the two (( On the C.H.A.O.S. remix record you’ll notice that the acronym in the remix title is “Dred” and it says it was published by “Damented Dreadz”, if that is any help at all.)) C.H.A.O.S. ((The guy rhyming from C.H.A.O.S., I guess it’s “Dred” has a style and voice that could be classified as half Buckshot and half Seven Shawn[cousin of Marley Marl and member of World Renown]. No disrespect, just sayin’.)) records in 320kbps and give you links to the other four below. For the record, for some unknown reason, the red C.H.A.O.S. record has the same exact songs on both sides. Eh.

T.R.O.Y.’s Unofficial Wu-Wednesday (Week 2)

Wednesday, December 8th, 2010

A real young sounding N-Tyce who later went on to form the Wu-affiliated all girl group, Deadly Venoms. Track 1 features Method Man on the hook and both tracks were produced by Wu-Tang Clan & 4th Disciple.
