Dropped Same Day: Tribe Called Quest / X Clan

After securing only around a third of the vote during the first Dropped Same Day, we’re takin’ it back even further as Tribe returns to face off against the Afrocentric group X Clan, featuring both of their introductory albums at the beginning of the nineties.

Xclan’s To The East Blackwards is definitely the better album and have stood the test of time. Tribe’s first album was always an acquired taste.

  2. I think part of the issue with this match up is that so many people have heard Tribe compared to X-Clan but even if they were equally well known I don’t know if that would change the results.

  3. RobThom says:

X-Clan was WAY better then I expected them to be after only seeing their picture in the source before I heard the album.

(Wasn’t all that impressed with the image.)

But ANYTHING vs. Peoples Instinctive Travels isn’t really fair.

Maybe the first two Public Enemies, the First EPMD and 3 feet High,
and thats just about it all the way up there.
