Random VLS Drops – A Lighter Shade Of Brown “Dip Into My Ride” (1994)

Lighter Shade Of Brown was chicano hiphop duo (One Dope Mexican [ODM)] & Don’t Try To Xerox [DTTX]) from Riverside, CA. They were best known for their single “On A Sunday Afternoon” off their debut album Brown & Proud (1990).

This single is from their 3rd album “Layin’ In The Cut” (1994), which dropped on the Mercury label.

It’s a slow summer jam, but i prefer Bobby’s mix:

Man everybody from around my way (Inland Empire – where LSOB is from) knows DTTX is such a douche. Fame really messed with his head. That’s part of the reason LSOB disbanded.

ODM now has his own show on a local radio station. It’s a Clear channel owned top 40 station so I guess you can say he sold out. He doesn’t represent for Hip Hop anymore.
