East Coast Rarities Volumes 40-49

Here we go with volumes 40-49 in my east coast rarities series. They are all good, but you might find yourself burning #45. I did. It’s hard to pick tracks because there’s a wealth of dope cuts here. I hope people like listening to these as much as I like putting them together. The problem for me is forgetting about classic material because I’m always digesting ‘new’ hip hop.

    Gotdamn, that takes some real work and mad hours to put so many comps like this together. Thanks schenectadyfan!! It took me a little while but I’m almost done downloading all of these now. Will drop another line when I try to figure out a few favorites.
    Thanks again!

    Oh shit, thanks for a megapost, looks amazing, nice work!
    Maybe you, or someone else, could help me locate two tracks I cant find anywhere, both longshots here but anyway.

    First a track: probably from around 94/95, solo artist, with the word Black in his moniker, track begins with the him saying the words;
    “They got plans for us…helicopters..” over a dope little guitar sample and then, I believe, Skull Snaps-drums kick in as the verse starts, the song got kind of a Paris/Public Enemy vibe and theme to it.
    I had it on a mixtape long gone, loved the track back in the day..

    Track two: Another mixtape from about 99-01, I believe it was one of Dj 3rd Rails Subway hiphop-tapes, long gone of course.
    This was a song by a group, 2-3 rappers on the track, kind of a bouncy track, tight drums and a slick chopped up jazzy guitar sample running trough the whole song. Could be anything right? BUT, the endpiece, about 30 seconds long, sets it apart from everyone else, its a sampled harmonica-solo, kind of bluesy, fits like a glove, such a brilliant track…if there is one instrument neglected in hiphop, its the harmonica hahaha, this group was obviously aware of that!;)

    Like I said, longshots, but if someone knows what the hell Im talking about, it is around here!;)

    • Man this track you’re talking about sounds super familiar, but I can’t place it at the moment. This something I’m going to try to figure out!

      Glad people like this series. Thanks for the positive comments and the feedback y’all!

  6. I think it’s ‘What You Gonna Do’ by Brother Arthur, which is track #16 on volume 32. You can find it here —

      No it is not much to go on, I know, but should you stumble over a harmonica solo somewhere in hiphop, pls make a post about it!
      It could possibly be a K-Otix track, the search goes on..
