Mobb Deep Demos

Over a month back, T.R.O.Y. forum member serch4beatz discovered a download, originally provided by HipHopSite.com, to none other than Mobb Deep’s demo tape of The Infamous, now linked on HQHipHop.net (as it was ripped in 320 CBR).

Mobb Deep – The Infamous Demo Tape

And more recently, DJ Step One dredged up this 2006 article from The Fader entitled Give Up the Goods, featuring commentary from the likes of Prodigy, Matty C, Schott Free and Stretch Armstrong.

“There was this one episode where they came up and they were rhyming over the World is Yours remix by NaS and whatever I say about it can’t really convey it, but they just fucking killed it. To this day it was one of the most high impact moments on that radio show and both of them were kind of coming into their own as, not just as a good hip hop group, but as lyricists. Prodigy was sort of developing this really sinister, nihilistic vibe which he didn’t have when he was younger, so his personality was growing as this was taking shape. People aren’t really going to be able to hear it with me just talking about it.” ~ DJ Stretch Armstrong

Step then wondered if the freestyle mentioned by Stretch was already available online, to which aleph responded that it was the Thursday, July 7th, ’94 show (near the end of Side B) and Krisch added that it was also on Freestyle Frenzy Vol. II.

The temperature’s not rising yet, so enjoy this winter-y music. Peace to Havoc & Prodigy, the Philaflava forums and Stretch.
