Valentine’s Weekend "Funk Drops" Compilation

I’m not the biggest fan of this holiday, but everyone needs a good funk and soul mix on hand for the ladies. Of course, love is the theme here. It’s just not exactly your average radio disc jockey ballad garbage that’s on your local station right now.
We start this love-a-thon off on the deep funk soul tip with cuts from The Counts, Eugene McDaniels, and 100% Pure Poison. After a funk instrumental by the Propositions, we ease right on into the sweet soul cut from The Sylvers, “Only One Can Win”[famously sampled by the late great J Dilla].
It’s just one infectious groove after another that will stay playing in your brain for some time to come. There’s samples all over the place. From MF Doom to Jemini the Gifted One. From Da King & I to Common. This compilation ends appropriately with Melvin Van Peebles’ very real and pretty damn funny track called “I Remember”.

Exceellent compilation, one of the better I've heard in a while. Love the "Kool Blues" tune and also that Rotary Connection that Kanye may or may not have used.
